IAN WEE – DIRECTOR
A freelance Director who is gifted both creatively and technically, Ian has been using new techniques & technologies to push the limits of what's possible since he began working in the media industry in 2001.
As a result of these uncommon qualities that set him apart, Ian has been privileged to work on numerous international co-productions in various capacities. First in documentaries (for the likes of Discovery Channel & National Geographic), then in feature films.
Nowadays, Ian specialises in directing commercials and narrative work. He has directed English episodic TV programmes like the hit mystery series “Reunion” and the groundbreaking multilingual drama "128 Circle”, both of which were shown on Mediacorp platforms. He's also directed commercials for Sony, Tefal and the Health Promotion Board.
In a previous life, while he was a Managing Director at Widescreen Media Pte Ltd, Ian supervised post-production for broadcast programmes and feature films. He also helped spearhead Stereoscopic 3D production in Asia.
And as part of his job scope at Widescreen, he developed bespoke workflows for production and post-production. This required him to find high-quality yet cost-effective ways to lead products all the way from prep to final delivery on the cinema screen.
This is a benefit he continues to bring to every project he directs today — creative fervour augmented with technical acumen.
Ian also takes experiences learnt on the ground and develops them into talks, courses & classes. He has taught professionals and at tertiary institutions on workflow, post-production & image acquisition in order to help dispel long-held misconceptions.
